the jet stream has crossed the equator at several points...Paul Beck explains below but the bottom line is...
the effect will be chaotic, unpredictable and severe weather...on a continuum- as we have been seeing lately.  Temperatures could vary over 50°f from day to day on a regular basis.  The heat keeps evaporating more moisture saturating the atmosphere and comes down in buckets...which will produce flooding as we have seen it-abrupt and severe.
