What sustains me....yesterday when I got off work and came home, in a tall tree by the deck of my apartment was a cardinal singing so loudly , a young girl walking home from school, who I have seen many times on her cell phone or chatting with her sister who walks with her , was looking up at it, singing away. We both just smiled at each other.... there were also as the late day unfolded and i sat on a chair on my deck, doves and hatchnuts, woodpeckers and sparrows, a single robin, hawks flying over, even geese singing in the sunset... and then woken this morning by the lovely sounds of birds singing from my sky window, 3 flights up- amid the horrors of the last weeks studying what is happening to the planet, how corporations knew for decades carbon dioxide from fossil fuels would have catastrophic consequences, but their sociopathic greed compelled them not only to continue massively polluting the environment, buying politicians allow them to (Republicans and Democrats) , but spend millions on climate change denial...that Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State in 2009, part of Obama's deadly imperialism over rising democracies early in his administration and throughout, allowed a military coup in Honduras to remove democratically elected President Zelaya, because Dole and Chiquita corporations did not like that Zelaya raised the minimum wage in Honduras...that military coup proceeded then to murder over 100 environmentalists...so nature sustains me, and my cats, who woke me up so early to feed them this morning that I got to hear the birds singing their dawn chorus.
